๐Ÿชผ๐Ÿš€ A โ€œspace jellyfishโ€ over our district offices? Now THATโ€™S a science lesson!

This incredible sight was captured directly above our district offices in Inverness this morning! The glowing formation is known as a โ€œspace jellyfishโ€ an effect that can happen when a rocket launches around sunrise or sunset.

While the sky is dark below, sunlight still reaches the rocketโ€™s exhaust high in the atmosphere, lighting up the expanding plume and creating this spectacular jellyfish shape.

Sometimes, the coolest classroom is right above us! Did you catch this amazing sight, too? ๐Ÿ‘€

At tonightโ€™s Regular School Board Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert recognized Jak Syn and Trenton Vega of Lecanto Primary School with the Superintendentโ€™s Character Award for coming to the aid of another student during an emergency situation in the schoolโ€™s lunchroom. LPS Principal Mollie Chandler, along with Jak and Trenton's families were all in attendance as Dr. Hebert presented both of them with the ๐‘ช๐’‰๐’‚๐’“๐’‚๐’„๐’•๐’†๐’“ ๐‘ฐ๐’ ๐‘จ๐’„๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’ award.

Their actions demonstrated kindness, courage, and a willingness to help someone in need. We are proud to recognize Jak and Trenton for looking out for a fellow student and showing what it means to make a positive difference in their school community.

Congratulations, Jak and Trenton! Thank you for reminding us that even at a young age, we can all make a difference through our actions.

At tonightโ€™s Regular School Board Meeting, Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert recognized Shyanne Waller for her outstanding athletic achievement as a member of the Saint Leo University Softball Lions Team, winners of the 2026 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship! This historic victory marks the first national championship in the programโ€™s history.

As a proud graduate of Citrus High School, Shyanneโ€™s accomplishment is an extraordinary milestone and a source of inspiration for our students, schools, and community. Even her former CHS softball coach, Larry Bishop was in attendance to cheer her on!

A moment of history, brought to life by our students!

During opening exercises at the Citrus County School Board meeting this evening, Board Member Sandy Counts invited students from Lecanto Middle School to read the Declaration of Independence as we continue celebrating our nationโ€™s 250th birthday.

Thank you to these students for helping us honor this milestone and reflect on the ideals that helped shape our nation! โค๏ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ’™

We are so excited to announce that FIVE Lecanto High School Band students have been selected to participate in the Macyโ€™s Great American Marching Band for the 100th Anniversary of the Macyโ€™s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
This is an incredible accomplishment and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these talented musicians! We could not be more proud of them for representing Lecanto High School on a national stage!
