Inver Hills Community College has created a new scholarship in honor of Sue Flannigan. For those of you who know Sue, no words are needed. For those who do not know Sue, let me give you a little background. Sue served 41 years as the Military and Veteran Coordinator and School Certifying Official, in this time She has served many students and touched so many lives. Through her work, Inver Hills has been recognized many times as a military friendly institution and paved the way for other institutions to do better and be better serving those who have served. Sue focused on the needs of the students, and was always willing to go toe to toe when needed. This scholarship is important because it not only honors the woman who fought for her students but also allows students to focus on academics, increasing their chances of staying in school and graduating on time. Students who receive Sue's scholarship have fewer financial concerns, more time to study, and a greater chance of success. That is all Sue ever wanted. If you could donate to this fund, it would mean so much to the student receiving the money and keep Sue's legacy alive for future students to utilize.

Hi Everyone –

I want to introduce myself – I am the new hire to replace the legendary Sue Flannigan. Although I have experience as an SCO, I do not have 43 years of service. I worked at North Hennepin Community College as the Military and Veteran Coordinator for 3 years. Prior to that, I was Sue’s work study, so she has mentored me for many years.

I am in the office Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I work from home Monday and Friday. If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me an email. I usually respond right away but if not, I will get you taken care of the next business day.

A little bit of background, I am a Vet, I was active duty Navy, I deployed twice for OEF/OIF. Afterwards, I did the whole Corporate America gig for 10 years and found it to be very soul sucking so, I decided to go back to school. I used my Post 9/11 GI Bill for my Human Services degree here at Inver, and then moved on using Voc Rehab for my bachelors and masters of Social work. I am part of the American Legion, Post 98 in St. Paul Park as the service officer. I am very connected in Inver Grove Heights, Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park. I’ve worked with the Yellow Ribbon Program, Lions Club, VALOR and many more.
