Throwback Thursday: The story of The Boulders 🪨

Did you know that The Boulders play area was created during the construction of the Inver Glen building?

As the building was being constructed, workers uncovered many large rocks while preparing the site. Instead of hauling them away, they were asked to collect them and place them together in what would eventually become one of our favorite play spaces.

Over the years, The Boulders has been a place for so much exploration and imagination: climbing trees, balancing on rocks, sliding down Kitty Cat Hill, gardening, searching for nature, and waving to golfers passing by. So many children have grown, played, and made memories there.

Throwback Thursday: Our Feathered Friends 🐔❤️

Over the years, we've been lucky to have some very special chickens as part of our preschool family.

It all started with our original chicken, Miss Chick, who loved to nest under the front desk and never turned down a slice of watermelon.

Later came two chicks: Fritzie (named after a beloved senior!) and a new Miss Chick, named in honor of her predecessor, of course.

After we sadly lost Miss Chick to a hawk, Fritzie continued ruling the roost for many happy years. She was eventually joined by Mary, named after Mary Ingalls. Mary was a gentle, blind chicken who quickly won everyone's hearts.

These sweet hens were pampered, well-loved, and adored by countless children, families, and staff. They gave us opportunities to nurture, observe, and connect with the natural world.

One question we still hear is: "Will you ever get a chicken again?" Though no plans are in the works at this time, never say never!

Take a look at Inver Glen’s building and playground under construction before we opened our doors in 2009. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come and all the little learners who have filled this building with joy over the years. 💛
