The PS Science curriculum, presented in an engaging, interactive and personally relevant way promotes a positive attitude towards science and leads students and teachers to science literacy. A solid base of science literacy results in sound scientific understanding and awareness – ultimately enabling it’s participants to become citizens able to make informed decisions about themselves and their wo
rld. The PS Science program is offered throughout the school year to all students in the recipient school/s. The PS Science Instructor and Classroom Teacher engage in a collaborative teaching relationship for the first 2 years. Thereafter, the Classroom teacher is mentored to assume the lead role in the program implementation, with PS Science providing on-going materials and instructional assistance. PS Science transforms the learning environment in its participating classrooms, opening minds to inquiry and critical thinking. The program is a highlight in the students’ week and provides evidence of student learning and desired outcomes. PS Science will be well- known and respected for its contributions to the scientific education of children in Southern California.
