Don’t worry parents, the tears don’t last long!! Too much fun in a day at Pipsy’s to be sad!!

When we were planning Pipsy's and conceptualizing how to incorporate mixed age groups while following state guidelines, I got a lot of questions about why. My token response is, "Older kids are given an opportunity to be a leader while younger kids have opportunities to learn from their older peers." I genuinely believe these little opportunities are invaluable and help us raise well rounded children.

We had such a perfect example of this today during snack! A kiddo I will call L was very sad because he didn't think he would like the carrots we were having for snack and he had already eaten multiple servings of the crackers being served. One of his teachers tried to reassure him that if he tried them he might like them but too many crackers would upset his tummy. His friend saw him crying and came over to ask why he was sad. When L said he didn't like carrots, his friend H said, "Here try the carrot." L, took a bite and immediately said, "Mmmm that's good!" The two of them sat together for the rest of snack enjoying their carrots.

L's teacher was trying to be encouraging but sometimes you just need that encouragement from a peer!

This is why I will forever advocate for children to be allowed to grow up with kids both older and younger than them!
