Before he joined our staff, he was a 57 parent. 💙

When we asked what made George W. Julian special, his answer was simple: the neighborhood, the community, and the way we all work together for our kids.

Fast forward to this school year… he’s now part of that work as one of our new Athletic Directors. ✈️

There’s something pretty special about a school community people don’t just want their children to be part of — they want to be part of it, too.

The 2026 IREAD results are in—and School 57 just made a VERY big statement. ✈️📚

95.8% of our third graders demonstrated reading proficiency!

That places George W. Julian School 57:

🏆 #6 among Marion County public schools
🏆 #4 when dedicated high-ability schools are excluded
🏆 #2 in IPS overall
🏆 #1 among IPS schools not designated high ability

Behind these numbers are students who worked hard, educators who poured into literacy and families who supported learning every step of the way.

This is what it looks like to be Known, Seen, Loved & Learning. Jet pride is flying HIGH! 💙✈️

We handed our Jets the mini mic and asked one question: What do you want to learn this year? 🎤✈️ Their answers were thoughtful, funny and full of big dreams. One thing is certain, our Jets are ready to learn! 💙

State of the School went a little something like this… ✈️💙

Families heard from our Leadership Team, visited classrooms to learn about this year’s units of inquiry, and wrapped up the evening with a picnic hosted by our amazing PTSA!

Part 2: The Greatest Hits 😂💦

Our goal was simple: Make attendance something to get excited about. The kids definitely understood the assignment—and fifth grade got a little surprise of their own at the end. 😉

Our first Surprise Attendance Day made a BIG splash! Every student who was present got a water balloon—and the chance to soak our attendance team. Fifth grade thought they got the last laugh…until we found the leftovers. 😂

You never know when the next surprise will happen, because every day counts! ✈️

What exactly do we do all day? Excellent question. 😂

Our Kindergarten teacher and School Social Worker documented their day with one photo every hour from the morning staff meeting all the way to dismissal.

Something new is taking flight at 57! ✈️

One of Ms. Jackson’s big ideas this year is to reimagine our front entryway into a space that truly reflects who we are at George W. Julian School 57 — our rich history, the vibrancy of our students and staff, our Irvington community, and of course, our JETS! ✈️

We’re beginning a School 57 Gallery Wall that will grow over time and include pieces of our school’s history, photographs of our students and community, aviation-inspired elements, and most importantly, student-created artwork. We want our students to have real agency in creating the space that welcomes people into their school.

Our first student-created piece has officially arrived! 💙✈️ This Jet created with a 57 is exactly what we envisioned, and we absolutely LOVE it!

Now we want to see what our other Jets create! Families, encourage your student to use their creativity and create something they think belongs on the walls of School 57. It could celebrate our Jets, aviation, Irvington, our school’s history, what it means to be a student at 57, or simply what makes our school special to them.

Known. Seen. Loved. Learning. And leaving their mark on 57.
