What a pleasant and unexpected surprise. This has been the year to top all years. I didn't think I would make it, but I did.

You see a Mr. Goodbar.
What you don't see is the student who gave it to me. A student I visited (uannounced) multiple times during the 1st semester.
A student who told me he doesn't like Math.
A student who wouldn't log-in.
A student who wouldn't do any work.
It's the same student who says 'Good morning!' when they walk into my room.
It's the same student who now believes it's ok to ask for help.
It's the same student who no longer needs to te him about using the text-to-speech function on his computer.
I am going to especially miss this group because we did not have a year together.
Because I survived teaching a full year during the pandemic, I know that I will survive leaving.

I'm still washing my hands. Are you?
I also have to put on my mask before I leave my classroom.
29 more morning alarms to go before I can say that I survived an entire year of Pandemic Teaching!

I chose not to read or respond to any work-related emails during Spring Break because I truly needed to unplug.
When I returned to work today, I started going through my inbox and found this awesome piece of news from (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, for the non-nerdy folks).
I hesitated to submit a proposal because I'm still getting used to referring to myself as a Math Teacher. I actually teach Resource Math & Science to students with Learning Disabilities. Oftentimes, we feel like an island because that's how we are treated in our districts and buildings. I'm glad I finalized and submitted my proposal; I stayed true to my passion: Equity in Math classrooms for students with Learning Disabilities.
Now, the real work (of preparing) begins!

Is this what it's like being a DJ? I need 2 laptops to do the 1,001 jobs that come with teaching F2F and virtually at the same time.
