Mathematics Assistance Center at IUPUI The Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC) is a service built from the collaboration of the Department The MAC also has a very large online presence.

The Mathematics Assistance Center (MAC) is a learning center dedicated to the tutoring and mentoring of IUPUI’s undergraduate students taking mathematics courses. Open every day, the MAC offers tutoring and mentoring services starting at developmental courses and extends its services through multivariate calculus and ordinary differential equations courses. The MAC is designed to be an open access p

eer-to-peer learning center located in the heart of IUPUI’s campus. The MAC floor space is allocated so that each course serviced has its own location on the MAC floor. Each course location is occupied by mentors and tutors who have been specifically trained for expertise in that course. As an open-access learning center no reservations are ever required at the MAC and there are no time or question limits for student clients seeking academic support. MAC tutors and mentors utilize white boards, educational technology, as well as specially painted dry erase walls to support our student clients’ mathematics development. Online tutoring is available to IUPUI students through the use of online virtual classrooms populated with specially‐trained tutors. We feel that our model for a closed loop relationship between students, professors, and collaborative peer academic relationships is the future of mathematics education at the post-secondary level.
