One Night Only! Black Women’s Readers Theatre performs “Dissin’ Black Women: The Stories Behind Our Disappearance, Dismissal, Disqualification, Disenfranchisement and Disposability.”

Readers theatre is a style of performance in which the actors present dramatic readings of narrative material without costumes, props, scenery or special lighting. Actors use only scripts and vocal expression to help the audience understand the story.

Our production of "Dissin' Black Women" will be performed by these community leaders:

+Gina Sánchez Gibau
+Tabitha Hardy
+Ronda Henry
+Nouri McLucas
+Khalilah Shabazz
While this is an event that centers Black women, all are welcome to attend.

faculty, staff and students may submit nominations for the 2024 Women’s History Month Recognition Awards, presented by the IUPUI Office for Women, through March 3.

As part of the National Women’s History Month observance at IUPUI every year in March, faculty, staff, and students, are recognized and celebrated for their achievements and contributions by the Office for Women at an annual recognition reception.

Deadline for nominations is Sunday, March 3rd. Guidelines and online forms can be found here at the Office for Women website.

Award winners have demonstrated significant leadership, achievement, advocacy, or service in support of gender equity, women’s empowerment, women’s history, or cultures of inclusion. Like all of our programs, these awards are open to all current IUPUI faculty, staff, and students regardless of age, color, disability, ethnicity, s*x, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, national origin, race, religion, s*xual orientation, or veteran status.

Winners will be announced and celebrated at the Women’s History Month Recognition Reception at 2:30-4:30pm on March 26th in the Campus Center Theater, this event is open to all.

[Extended Deadline: Nov. 27] Enhanced Mentoring Program with Opportunities for Ways to Excel in Research (EMPOWER) provides support to IUPUI faculty who are historically underrepresented and/or excluded populations in their discipline or area of scholarship and historically denied admission to higher education or that discipline, 1) to become successful in sponsored research and scholarly activity, and 2) to achieve significant professional growth and advancement. The program sustains mentorship opportunities through the EMPOWER Grant Program, supporting achievement of excellence in research and scholarly activity, and optimal attainment of academic career goals and objectives.
