The coaches (major shout out to Coach Chap and Coach Hoy) are expecting about 45+ kids, so they brought in a 3rd volunteer coach from Indy Chess named Jerika Eppel. Coach Jerika is a 1500+ USCF-rated player, previously coached at the Memphis Chess Center, ran the Arkansas State Chess Championship, and she has a Master's in Education from Johns Hopkins.

(And FYI, this is separate from lunch chess w/ Mr. Dean from Learning Through Games Inc.!)

We would like to give the biggest shoutout and thank you to Fire By The Monon for making each and every one of our students feel extra special!🎂

Starting this year, when a student’s birthday is announced at morning assembly, he/she will receive a special birthday treat from one of our favorite local restaurants, firebythemonon!

Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade will receive a gift card good for one kids meal, and our 7th and 8th graders will receive a gift card good for one delicious dessert!

STA parents: when completing your back to school forms in PowerSchool, be sure to submit the Student Information for this year. If you submitted it last year, it says complete, but we need the tech agreement, photo release, and walker forms verified each year.

Another tip: if your child has not been baptized you can enter 00/00/0000 as the date.

Hey 4th grade families!

🎟️ Fourth graders can get a free family pass to all National Parks for a year.

🗻The Every Kid Outdoors program gives fourth graders and their families free access to over 2,000 federal parks, lands, and waters for an entire year. The pass is offered every year to fourth graders in the United States. No matter where you live in the U.S., you’re within two hours of an included site. Every Kid Outdoors was created so fourth graders and their families could discover our wildlife, resources, and history for free. The program chose fourth graders because research shows that kids ages nine to 11 are beginning to learn about the world around them. They’re open to new ideas, and they are likely to connect to nature and our history.

Midtown SausageFest Fans,

On August 5, St. Thomas along with all parishes in Indianapolis were notified by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis of the unfortunate fact that our insurance carrier will no longer insure bounce houses or inflatables due to injuries and claims in other Archdiocese who participate in our insurance program. This is not meant to be punitive as it is entirely outside the control of the Archdiocese, but it has resulted in an immediate banning of inflatables at Parish events, including at SausageFest 2026.

Over the past week, the SausageFest Executive Leaders have met and developed NEW kids games and activities to entertain our lil' smokies, so rest assured all kids and families will still have fun at SausageFest!

“I can't believe this new school year has already started! I loved getting to see everyone on back to school night and hopefully again soon at SAUSAGEFEST!

I will be leading Garden Club again, one session in the fall and one in the spring.

Upcoming fall session will be on Fridays starting September 25th - November 6th (no session during fall break) from 3:00-4:15.

We will be doing a lot of hands on learning in the lab and in the garden.
