Virtual learning at the Anda Pod... these kids are professionals at this point

We wanted to share this opportunity with you and see who might be interested. In response to the possibility of needing additional assistance with Spanish for those students in dual programs or simply for parents that need to work and want a few regular hours of solid work time and your students are going to be learning virtually, we are offering programming for the upcoming school year starting August 3rd on a monthly basis. Prices on the flyer are per week but invoices will be per month! That may not have been clear. Please let me know what further questions you have and please pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested. We can’t accommodate many children because our space is small. We can socially distance with up to ten kids and three staff members. We are continuing to develop our programming and are welcoming all questions, discussion, recommendations to accommodate the families we will serve this year. Our adult classes are designed to provide a fast paced learning experience that really allow you to take control of your learning journey. We really focus on conversation and comprehension, the two things you don't get from a textbook. This is our secret weapon. There is something magical about how our brain processes language and how it processes music. And when those magical language wires cross with our magical music wires, you become a linguistic genius. I'm convinced it's a super power. Ask anybody what Spanish they know and if they had the good fortune of being able to learn Spanish in preschool they probably remember a song they learned! SO find some authentic music you love in Spanish and get to work. This DOES NOT mean that you simply can hear music in another language and it will some how by osmosis stay forever ingrained in your head. Practice comprehension by listening over and over trying to understand the lyrics without looking them up! THEN, look up the lyrics only in Spanish. NOT. IN. ENGLISH. and translate the song word by word, phrase by phrase. You will learn new vocab and idiomatic expressions and get a great feel for rules around syntax. And listen over and All while shaking your b***y. Marc Anthony single handedly taught me Spanish. So get to it!

So learning a new language can be so much fun. The trick is to make it relevant to you. It doesn't really do you much good to learn a bunch of Spanish vocab about outer space if you don't care at all about the cosmic universe in English! You could become totally fluent without ever knowing the word for Jupiter (spoiler... it's Jupiter). So focus on things that you LOVE. Is it art, music, gardening, yoga, animals, food???? Then learn ALL the words around that topic and you will talk about it all the time. The rest of the grammatical structures will be so much more interesting to learn in a context that doesn't bore you to death.

Speak Spanish all day. This one may really make you feel crazy, but you need to get creative if you are serious about learning a language. Start speaking right away! Speak to everyone and anyone who will listen, even if you only know a few phrases. Speak out loud, to yourself, in the shower, while cooking. Speak to your dog, who is obviously fluent in Spanish. And if you know another human who speaks Spanish... SPEAK TO THEM IN SPANISH. Just do it.
