Raised in a family of educators, Devonne (Nae) Baker spent much of her childhood helping her mother prepare classrooms, organize materials, and support students. Despite being surrounded by education, she initially pursued other paths before realizing teaching was her true calling.

That realization led her to IPS Brookside School 54, where she began as a special education assistant before becoming an Associate Teacher. Today, Baker is pursuing her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Marian University Indianapolis through the Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program (RTAP)—part of the IPS Professional Educator Pathways.
