Learning opportunity:
Our business office is in Longmeadow, MA but we are an online program and have had students in over a dozen different states.
We offer Full-time as a school replacement program or Part-time where students can take as many classes as they want to. One of the important things about us is that students are placed in classes by their readiness for whatever level they are at. This usually creates mixed age classes. Some other important tenets are creativity in all subjects, increased depth and complexity, Socratic dialogue, and focusing on students' strengths and interests. Our subjects subjects include Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Tech & Engineering, Visual Art, Independent Investigations, Social Time, Leadership opportunities, and out in the real world field trips every two weeks.
We have real teachers in real-time all the time. There aren't any canned lessons. Students have time during the day for their projects and assignments and there is a teacher there to support them all the while. So, there is little or no homework. We encourage students to get out into the world and pursue their interests after their classes. All of this takes place in a community of mutual respect and understanding.
Thank you for your help putting this up! If you would like to have the link to the website in there, it's www.ideal4gifted.org
As far as the cost goes, it is as low as we can go to pay our teachers, taxes for them, and our insurance. There are also discounts for more than one student in a family attending, and for returning students. It's probably less expensive than most independent private schools but it does cost more than if you taught everything yourself.
The Full-time annual cost is $12,600. The part-time classes vary depending on how many times a week they meet We call them one unit and two unit classes and then there are a couple of unique ones. This is the way it goes. I hope this makes sense.
Part-Time Costs:
One Unit Class
$1,275 for a full year
Two Unit Class
$2,550 for a full year
Fab Friday – meets every Friday, for the full day.
$3,000 for a full year
IDEAL4Leaders – meets two times a week for 30 minutes
$635 for a full year
