Congrats Coach!

We are proud to highlight the remarkable story and lasting impact of John Mallery, a dedicated football player and coach whose devotion to the sport has touched countless young athletes. Born on January 16, 1958, in Noblesville, Indiana, John made his mark early as a standout fullback and linebacker for Noblesville High School. He was a three‑year letterman, earned First Team All‑Hamilton County and First Team All‑Sagamore Conference honors, and was named to the South All‑Star Team, with honorable mention All‑State recognition in both 1974 and 1975.

John continued his athletic career at the University of Indianapolis, where he lettered in 1978 and 1979 and helped his team to a Heartland Conference Championship. Balancing academics with athletics, he earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from the university, laying the groundwork for a future dedicated to mentoring others.

John’s passion for football and his commitment to teaching young people the values of the game were honored through the Robert Springer Presidents Award and the Ken Leffler Service Award from the Indiana Football Coaches Association, both of which reflect his genuine devotion to the sport and to the growth of his players.

As an assistant coach at Franklin Central, John was an integral part of multiple state championship and runner‑up teams, helping build a culture of excellence and competitive spirit. His leadership, encouragement, and deep understanding of the game left a lasting impression on players, fellow coaches, and the broader football community.

On June 22, 2023, John Mallery was rightfully inducted into the Indiana Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame, a testament to his enduring contributions as both a player and coach, and to his lifelong commitment to Indiana football.
