There’s something about childcare that people don’t always see.
It’s not just the work.
It’s the mental load.
Your brain never turns off.
You’re always thinking three steps ahead.
Who needs a diaper.
Who didn’t eat much.
Who looks like they’re getting sick.
Who needs help learning to share.
Who is about to climb something they shouldn’t.
You’re watching everything at once.
And while you’re doing all that, you’re also cooking, cleaning, teaching, comforting, redirecting, and trying to keep the peace between tiny humans who all need something at the same time.
It’s a lot.
And some days it feels like no matter how hard you try, you’re still wondering if you did enough.
But here’s the truth.
If the children in your care feel safe, loved, and happy to come back the next day… you’re doing better than you think.
Childcare isn’t easy.
But the heart behind it is something really special. đź’ś

Some children develop intense interests in dinosaurs, and research suggests this curiosity may be linked to higher intelligence. Fascination with complex topics like prehistoric life can indicate strong observational skills, memory, and the ability to absorb and process detailed information.
When kids explore dinosaurs, they engage in critical thinking—remembering species, learning timelines, and understanding cause-and-effect relationships. These activities stimulate cognitive development, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills, which can translate into other areas of learning. Their focus on facts, research, and categorization strengthens executive functions like planning and reasoning.
Parents can nurture these interests by providing books, interactive models, museum visits, or educational videos. Encouraging questions, discussions, and hands-on exploration turns curiosity into deeper learning experiences, fostering intellectual growth while keeping the process enjoyable.
It’s important to remember that intense curiosity in any subject—dinosaurs, space, animals, or music—can be a marker of cognitive engagement and creativity. Supporting and validating a child’s passions helps build confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.
By recognizing and encouraging these focused interests, parents provide children with opportunities to strengthen their intelligence, problem-solving skills, and curiosity, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and achievement.
