Endurance & Heart Health 🫀

Your dog’s heart health could save their life.

Just like people, dogs benefit from:
✔ Regular walks
✔ Structured play (fetch, tug with rules)
✔ Gradual increases in activity

Why this matters for CPR:
👉 A healthier heart responds better in emergencies
👉 Better circulation supports recovery

🐾 Aim for consistency over intensity.

❤️ always consult your veterinarian for what is best for your pet!

Everyday Strength & Conditioning 💪

You don’t need a gym to build a strong dog!

Simple ways to build strength:
✔ Sit → Down → Stand transitions
✔ Walking on different surfaces
✔ Controlled stairs or hills
✔ Balance work (like standing on uneven ground)

Why it matters:
👉 Stronger muscles = better injury prevention
👉 Better body awareness = fewer accidents

🐾 Functional fitness = real-life safety. Always consult your veterinarian for what’s best for your pet!

Know Your Dog’s “Normal” ❤️

Would you know if something was off with your dog?

Fitness helps you learn your dog’s:
✔ Normal energy level
✔ Breathing rate
✔ Recovery after activity

These are the SAME things we monitor in an emergency.

👉 If you don’t know what’s normal… it’s hard to spot a problem.

🐾 Tip: After a walk, watch how quickly your dog returns to normal breathing. Always consult your veterinary for what’s best for your pet’s health!

Why Fitness Matters 🚶‍♀️

A fit dog isn’t just a happy dog…
👉 It’s a safer dog.

When your dog is in good physical shape, they:
✔ Handle stress better
✔ Recover faster from illness or injury
✔ Have stronger heart & lung function (critical in emergencies)

As both an AKC Fit Dog Instructor and Pet CPR & First Aid Instructor, I see it all—
👉 Prevention matters just as much as knowing what to do in an emergency.

🐾 Start simple: a daily walk goes a long way. Always consult with your veterinarian for your pets best health!

Muzzles aren’t punishment, they’re safety tools! Proper muzzle training can:

- Prevent accidental ingestion of harmful items
- Keep anxious dogs calm in public
- Give dogs personal space and reduce stress

Here are some helpful tips:
- Start at home with tasty treats like peanut butter or cheese
- Gradually increase comfort with the muzzle
- Basket muzzles are safe and allow panting & drinking
