Our Health Sciences students continue to experience learning that extends well beyond the walls of Walker Career Center thanks to our growing partnership with Infinity Eye Care and Dr. Mark Snyder.

Through this unique partnership, Dr. Snyder volunteers his time to provide students with in-person instruction at Walker Career Center focused on optometry, vision care, patient interaction, and the day-to-day operations of an eye care practice. Students then have the opportunity to take that learning into an authentic healthcare environment through externship experiences at Infinity Eye Care, located right here in Warren Township

In honor of August 29 over the weekend, we’re celebrating our FIRST Robotics Team 829 – The Digital Goats by recognizing one of their outstanding members as this week’s Walker Career Center Student of the Week!

Congratulations to Austin Williamson, who is beginning his second year with Team 829 and has already stepped into the important leadership role of Pit Captain.

From his very first year with the Digital Goats, Austin has challenged himself to learn all aspects of the robot, including mechanical and electrical systems, design, and match strategy. His desire to understand how everything works, willingness to tackle new challenges, and commitment to helping his teammates have made him an important part of Team 829!

Congratulations to Mr. Matchett on being named the August Journey of a Graduate (JOG) Teacher of the Month for Walker Career Center!

Mr. Matchett leads our WCTV and Warrior Sports Network programs and has done an outstanding job since stepping into the program lead role last spring. His energy, creativity, and commitment to his students have helped provide them with meaningful, hands-on experiences in broadcasting, video production, and live event coverage.

Shout out to the creativity of our Cosmetology students as they competed in the annual Mannequin Challenge, with their creations on display during Back to School Night. The votes have been counted, and the results are in!

Congratulations to Chianne Fields, a senior in our Early Childhood Education Program, on being named the Walker Career Center Student of the Week!

Chianne has started her senior year right where she left off—showing leadership both in the classroom and during her field experience. She is always willing to help her peers during class and takes initiative while working with the young students at her field experience. Chianne helps make sure all of the children are accounted for and get on the bus at dismissal, and her mentor teacher greatly appreciates the support and positive presence Chianne brings to the classroom!
