I see a lot of men excited that their woman is taking an interest in shooting and run right out to buy them a gun. It’s well-intentioned but often (usually) not the right gun for her.
If she hasn’t shot enough to tell the difference between the guns out there AND especially if she has never shot the gun you’re choosing, you’re probably effing it up.
Don’t buy her a gun for Christmas unless she has told you specifically what she wants AND has already shot it and some other guns.
I said what I said.

Some good information here on the new laws going into effect June 13.
Who can carry concealed without a license in Ohio when the new law takes effect June 13th?
We have seen a lot of misinformation regarding who can legally carry under the new law when it takes effect. The law doesn't allow everyone over 21 who can legally possess a firearm to carry without a license, there are additional restrictions. See ORC 2923.111 for the definition of "qualifying adult" here: https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-2923.111
In essence, you must not have anything in your background that would stop you from getting an Ohio Concealed Handgun License. If you have any of the following list in your past, you cannot legally carry under the new law:
If you have any PENDING indictment or criminal charges for:
• Any FELONY offense.
• Any DRUG offense.
• Any misdemeanor of VIOLENCE (i.e. Assault, Aggravated Menacing, Menacing by Stalking, Menacing, Inciting Violence, Riot, Inducing Panic, Domestic Violence).
• Negligent Assault
• Including Complicity or Attempt to Commit any of the above offenses.
If you have any CONVICTIONS/JUVENILE ADJUDICATIONS ANYTIME in the past for:
• Any FELONY offense.
• Any DRUG offense (except for Minor Misdemeanor Drug Possession or Minor Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia offenses ).
• Assault on a Peace Officer.
• A conviction/juvenile adjudication for Domestic Violence, or a guilty or no contest plea to a lesser charge in which physical force was present.
• Including Complicity or Attempt to Commit any of the above offenses.
If you have any CONVICTIONS/JUVENILE ADJUDICATIONS within the past THREE years for:
• Misdemeanor of VIOLENCE (except for Resisting Arrest or Assault on a Peace Officer – see above and below for these offenses).
If you have any CONVICTIONS/JUVENILE ADJUDICATIONS within the past FIVE years for:
• TWO or more convictions/juvenile adjudications for Assault or Negligent Assault
If you have any CONVICTIONS/JUVENILE ADJUDICATIONS within the past TEN years for:
• Resisting Arrest.
• Including Complicity or Attempt to Commit any of the above offenses.
If you are the subject of any ACTIVE civil protection orders, temporary protection order, or similar protection order from any state.
If you are prohibited from possessing a handgun under Ohio or Federal law, a fugitive from justice, drug dependent, adjudicated mental incompetence, or chronic alcoholic.
You cannot be an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance as defined in the federal Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802). Be advised that ma*****na is listed in the federal Controlled Substances Act as a Schedule I controlled substance and there are no exceptions in federal law for ma*****na used for medicinal purposes, even if such use is sanctioned by state law. Therefore, if you are legally using medical ma*****na under the Ohio Medical Ma*****na Control Program (MMCP), you may be prohibited from carrying a concealed handgun under federal law.
You must not have been charged with falsifying a concealed carry application or have a revoked concealed carry license in Ohio or any other state.
You must not have an active SUSPENSION of a concealed carry license in Ohio or any other state.
