Congratulations to Stephanie Willige, Guion Creek Middle School's 2026 Classified Staff of the Year!

Principal McKinney shared:
"Nurse Stephanie Willige is an invaluable pillar of the Guion Creek Middle School (GCMS) community. For over 12 years, she has poured her heart and soul into the well-being of our students and staff. She is a truly selfless colleague and a phenomenal school nurse who works tirelessly, rain or shine, to ensure the safety of our entire school community.

The nurse’s office at GCMS serves as a true sanctuary. Whether it is students stopping by before or after school to talk about life, or teachers dropping in during prep periods and lunches to seek counsel, Stephanie provides a safe, healing space for all stakeholders. Her presence makes everyone breathe a little easier.

Beyond her daily care—such as monitoring health metrics and offering a listening ear—Stephanie has proven herself a hero in times of crisis. When faced with a life-threatening emergency this year, she acted with exceptional composure and expertise. Despite being injured herself, she took charge, ensured the student received critical care, and empowered our leadership team to assist effectively."

Celebrating our 2026 Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to Isaiah Smith, Guion Creek Middle School's 2026 Teacher of the Year!

Principal McKinney shared:
"Isaiah Smith is a phenomenal educator who has dedicated six years to the Guion Creek Middle School community. In an era where longevity in a single building is rare, Mr. Smith has chosen the "road less traveled." Each summer, he reflects on his practice and returns as a stronger educator—consistently refining his instruction, sharpening his professional acumen, and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to moving GCMS forward.

As a PE teacher for all three grade levels, Mr. Smith has fostered deep, genuine relationships with his students. The impact of these connections is visible daily; when students see him, they immediately seek him out for conversation. To them, he is more than just a teacher—he is a mentor and a role model they aspire to emulate.

Strong veteran teachers look for ways to maximize their influence, and Mr. Smith is a prime example. When the vision for a school-wide cultural celebration was introduced, he immediately stepped up to lead the initiative. His leadership extends far beyond the gym; he has:

- Volunteered to lead lunch duty and support after-school events.
- Established a new mentorship program specifically for our 8th-grade young men.
- Actively sought out opportunities to champion the school’s culture.

Guion Creek Middle School is incredibly fortunate to have a teacher of Mr. Smith's caliber. His willingness to make an impact extends well past the classroom walls, and his journey in education is one of resilience and service. He is truly an asset to our district and a deserving candidate for this honor."

‼️Middle School Girls‼️

Pike High School's Girls Flag Football Club will host a Free Girls Flag Football Camp from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m on May 5th - May 7th for all Pike Township middle school girls. Participants should wear workout clothes and tennis shoes (no metal cleats) and bring water.

Our 8th grade team will play at Raymond Park at 6:00 p.m., and our 7th grade team is scheduled to play at Guion Creek Middle School at 5:30 p.m.
