Worthmore Academy is a place where children with learning disabilities receive individualized instruction based on their unique condition while also providing a place where children accept each other and their differences and experience confidence, self-worth, friendship, popularity, and being who they are. We provide 3 important educational choices that make it easier for parents to advocate for
and advance their children’s experiences.
1. Early Childhood Developmental Intervention – Researchers have found that the earlier children with learning differences receive special needs development, the better their chances of practicing and cultivating good learning behaviors and basic educational building blocks. Teachers that specialize in development education can make all the difference for your pre-school age child (3 – 7). Waiting to see how a child does in a normal school can be one of the biggest setbacks to educational preparedness. Starting early to prepare children with learning differences for school with special remediation increases their chances for success.
2. Remediation Prescriptive– In some cases, a child may fall behind and remediation, with special skills and better learning preparedness is all that is necessary to get the student back on course. Our devoted staff maintains the highest quality of individualized remediation with continued emphasis on emotional growth. With this educational choice, Worthmore's goal is to help the child return to a traditional academic setting within one to two years.
3. Long term school solution – For the child that has found it difficult to stay in a traditional academic setting and overcrowded learning environments, or to make long term friendships, or for those that backslide the moment they re-enter a traditional academic setting, a permanent school home may be the best solution. Worthmore is a place where children accept each other and their differences. They get to experience confidence, self-worth, friendship, popularity, and being who they are. The best possible special services are provided all day every day. In addition, ISP services from the township are added to the curriculum to make an environment with a high teacher to student ratio and as many as are possible special learning opportunities are delivered.
