IU Indianapolis BREWERY OPERATIONS COURSE - JANUARY 15th Registration Deadline - 7 DAY COURSE (classes 2 weeks apart) - REGISTER NOW (seats are limited) !!!
----- 7 long, full days for Pro Brewery Workers or Those Wanting To Work In The Industry, or Anyone That Just Wants to Learn More. Approx 40 classroom hrs plus 25+ hrs in local breweries, especially course supporter, Sun King Brewery. Participants receive an IU Certificate, and should be prepared to take the BJCP and Certified Cicerone Exams upon completion. ----- Class days are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm plus Optional (but Highly Recommended) After-Class Sessions. Classes are spread out, approx 2 weeks apart. Must be at least 21 years old. No brewing or other experience required (but would be beneficial). No prerequisites.
----- CLASS 1 - Jan 29: World Beer Styles and Sensory Analysis - Includes Sampling, Off-Flavors, Evaluation Training, etc.
----- CLASS 2 - Feb 12: US Beer & Craft Beer Styles, Trends and History - Includes Sampling, Off-Flavors, Blind Evaluation, etc.
----- CLASS 3 - Feb 26: Beer Ingredients and Their Impact on Brewing - Includes Hops, Malt and Water Chemistry Demos, etc.
----- CLASS 4 - Mar 12: Brewhouse Equipment and Operations - Includes a Half Day at Sun King Brewery, Safety & Maintenance Issues, etc. Safety equipment required.
----- CLASS 5 - Mar 26: Fermentation and Cellaring Operations - Includes a Half Day at Sun King Brewery, Yeast Harvesting, Lab Processes, etc. Safety equipment required.
----- CLASS 6 - Apr 9: Packaging and Quality Control - Includes a Half Day at Sun King Brewery, Kegging, Canning, Lab Analysis & Testing, etc. Safety equipment required.
----- CLASS 7 - Apr 23: Brewery, Tap House & Bar Operations, Draft Systems, and Brewery Admin - Includes a Half Day at Sun King Brewery, Draft Systems, Tap Room Operations, HR, Marketing, etc. Safety equipment required.
