As the 2025/26 school year comes to a close, the ISI community has much to celebrate. From meaningful milestones and shared achievements to challenges overcome together, this year has been a testament to the strength, resilience, and spirit of the ISI family.

Students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters continue to uplift one another in countless ways - whether cheering each other on at end-of-unit assemblies, theatre productions, and athletic events, or investing in the future of ISI through the ONE Future Campaign. One thing remains clear: ISI is a family.

As summer begins, it’s a time to celebrate another successful year and look ahead to all that’s to come. Wishing the entire ISI community a summer filled with rest, joy, and new adventures. August will be here before we know it, bringing exciting opportunities, new beginnings, and the chance to share the latest campus construction developments with the full school community. Go Gryphons!

On Friday, ISI student-athletes and their families came together for the Athletics Awards Assembly to celebrate a year of hard work and memorable accomplishments. Athletes from across our programs were recognized for their contributions throughout the season, and the Gryphon Guide Awards were presented to students who demonstrated exceptional leadership, sportsmanship, and dedication to their teams. Keep an eye on the ISI Athletics page this week as we recognize each of this year’s Gryphon Guide recipients!

The assembly ended with a heartfelt tribute to Grade 7/8 Soccer teammate Ben Wade. His teammates signed a jersey that was presented to his family, honoring Ben’s place on the team and the impact he had on those around him.

This morning, our Kindergarten students shared their learning and experiences during their End of Unit Celebration focused on how people express emotions through movement and music. This collaborative unit brought together music, physical education, and homeroom learning in such a meaningful way!

Families enjoyed wonderful student performances and even joined in on fun musical movement activities in the gym. In music class this unit, students explored hula dance and the history behind it, learning special pieces including “Kapulu Kāne,” “Pūpū Hinuhinu,” and “Kahuli Calling.”

A very special thank you to former ISI music teacher Mrs. Karen Ivy for volunteering her time to teach our students. Since retiring from ISI, she has spent the past 15 years studying hula, and we are so grateful she shared her knowledge and passion with our community. Thank you to all of the teachers and families who helped make this celebration so special!

Last week, Grade 9 students wrapped up their interdisciplinary unit, Global Issues Global Solutions, combining their learning from Science and Individuals & Societies classes. As part of the project, students researched a country, explored its history and current challenges, and identified one developmental issue facing the country. They then proposed potential solutions using skills and knowledge from both subjects.

The project concluded with students presenting their research and ideas to the ISI community, while reflecting on how interdisciplinary learning connects concepts across subjects and develops real-world problem-solving skills!

Last week, our Kindergarten students teamed up with High School musicians for a special collaboration all about expression through music and movement! As part of their “How We Express Ourselves” unit, Kindergarten students have been exploring how people express emotions through music and movement while learning about different musical styles and instruments. High School students performed songs, introduced their instruments, and gave the younger students the chance to try making music themselves.
