In Chulaimbo, Kenya, at least 20% of the school-aged children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

We are a partnership of many faiths and cultures from two continents, united in our service to change lives by keeping orphaned and vulnerable children in western Kenya in school. The vision of the Umoja Project is to develop a compassionate and comprehensive network of care which responds to the needs of these children by:

- Supporting children and their families through broad-based services;

These three boys at Ulalo Comprehensive School each receive a daily school lunch through Umoja’s school lunch feeding program. 🧡

For just $50, you can provide school lunch for one student for an entire year. A donation of $150 feeds all three boys for the full school year — helping them stay nourished, focused, and ready to learn.

Small acts of generosity create lasting impact.

Earlier this month, Umoja conducted a two-day manual review training for the Get-Up and Bet-Up programs, focused on empowering adolescents aged 12–17, with a focus on orphaned and vulnerable children.

The sessions reviewed key topics including health, relationships, talent development, and life skills, while emphasizing mentorship, safe spaces, and informed decision-making to help young people lead healthy and responsible lives.

Umoja is empowering and transforming the lives of children! 🧡

This past week, our primary and junior high school students received new blankets through our Basic Needs Program. For many of these children, these blankets are not only for them, but also for their families during the cooler months.

By helping provide warmth and comfort, we are also helping students get the rest they need to focus, learn, and thrive in school. Education begins with meeting basic needs, and together we are making a lasting difference in these children's lives.

Asante sana to all of our generous donors and supporters who make this possible. Your kindness is bringing hope, warmth, and opportunity to so many families.

🌾📚 Term 2 Grain Distribution for Umoja’s Child-Headed Households 🧡

Today, our Ogada students received their grain support for Term 2 — a vital step in ensuring they have nourishment, stability, and the opportunity to continue focusing on their education despite the challenges they face at home.

These resilient young learners carry responsibilities far beyond their years, yet they continue to show courage, determination, and hope every single day.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Umoja’s mission of empowering vulnerable and orphaned children through education and care. Together, we are changing lives one child at a time. ✨

Last week, the Reason 2 Smile Library team in Kenya visited Kawino Primary School with the Mobile Library Program. Over 360 learners from Grade 3 to Grade 9 benefited from more than 700 books, including story books, novels, revision materials, and reference books. 🏫📚

“It was our first visit to the school, and both the learners and teachers warmly welcomed us with great excitement and appreciation. They also asked us to pass their heartfelt gratitude to the US team for their continued support,” said Norbert Ouko, Librarian.

Together, we continue inspiring young readers and promoting a culture of learning. 📚✨

📚 Hunger is one of the biggest barriers to education.

That’s why Umoja Partnership works alongside local schools and families in Kenya to provide daily school lunch for thousands of students — helping children attend class, concentrate, and build brighter futures.

Just $50 helps feed a child school lunch for an entire year. Small acts of generosity can create lifelong impact. 🌍

Join us in making sure no child learns on an empty stomach.
