Today, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education announced that, for the second consecutive year, over 60 percent of Indiana high school seniors from the class of 2026 have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). “After recent updates to the FAFSA application process, it is easier than ever for Hoosiers to complete one application that connects them with need-based resources to support their education,” said Governor Mike Braun. “As we work to ensure students and parents see a strong return on investment when choosing higher education, completing the FAFSA can be a key driver in making any path more affordable, whether a student pursues a short-term credential, a bachelor’s degree, or beyond.”

Today, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education unanimously approved an updated Outcomes-Based Performance Funding formula for higher education institutions designed to better prioritize student outcomes and strengthen the connection between higher education and the state’s talent needs. “This approach reflects our state’s commitment to delivering stronger outcomes in higher education,” said Governor Mike Braun. “It prioritizes efficiency, accountability, and measurable performance, ensuring Hoosier tax dollars are directed toward programs that demonstrate clear, long-term ROI. Yesterday, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education announced that more than 300 scholarships have been awarded to the 10th class of Next Generation Hoosier Educators. Through a competitive, academic-based selection process, the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship provides recipients a renewable scholarship of up to $10,000 per year to help pay for college.
