There was an extra Greyhound in this year's graduating class: Grady the Greyhound I.

"You have represented us well and helped elevate the reputation of the University of Indianapolis. Most importantly, you have served our community as a very good dog."

With his graduation, Grady I takes on the title of "Mascot Emeritus" and officially passes the leash to Grady II.

Game Day, Their Way 🏀

UIndy sport management students aren't just learning how to run sporting events—they're putting that knowledge into practice at the annual Special Olympics Indiana Youth Basketball tournament.

From preparing Nicoson Hall to welcome young Special Olympians from across the state, coordinating logistics and navigating the unexpected challenges that come with game day, UIndy students take on real responsibilities and gain the kind of hands-on experience you can't get from a textbook.

“You only learn by doing,” said Queen Baker ’26. “Trial and error. Experience is life’s best teacher.”

For these future sport professionals, game day is more than a tournament. It’s a chance to learn, problem-solve and build the skills they’ll carry with them into their careers.

Before joining UIndy, Rick Dunkle wrote and produced episodes of the hit series, working alongside some of television’s most recognizable stars.

Now, he’s bringing that Hollywood experience to the classroom.

As an assistant professor of communications and general manager of UIndy TV and WICR, Dunkle is helping the next generation of storytellers bring their ideas to life—from documentaries and live newscasts to a Saturday Night Live-style sketch comedy event.
