PRAYER: Jesus Christ, you resisted the temptations of this world not just in the desert after 40 days of fasting. You stood firm against every temptation your whole life through. Too often I have given into temptation without a fight. Stir in me both the desire and the strength to face the temptations that I face today. Give me the courage to live with a difference. Give me also the assurance of your love for those times that I fail. All this I ask in your name. Amen.
Calvary Lutheran Church and School Indianapolis IN
Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod Calvary Lutheran Church and School lives under the cross of Christ.
From the five crosses that hang in the heart of Calvary’s sanctuary, to those found on the walls of our Christian Day School, our members, students, families and staff are forever reminded that we are saved by Jesus’ death and resurrection, because God loves us. Empowered by that love of God in Christ Jesus, our mission is to Engage People In Christ through Connecting, Learning, Caring, and Serving.
Recording of this weekend's Contemporary worship service • June 14, 2026, at 10:45 AM.
Theme of the Day:
Teaching. Healing. Proclaiming Good News. Like a compassionate Shepherd, Jesus came caring for the needs of the people. When Jesus called, commissioned, and sent His disciples, He guaranteed that His mission would continue through the church. Wherever God’s Word is proclaimed and His sacraments are administered, Jesus continues to gather people into His kingdom. He does that for us in worship today! Having gathered us in His name, taught us with His Word, and healed us by His Supper, He will send us out into His harvest field. Wherever we go, Jesus is with us, as we declare His glorious praise.

PRAYER: Eternal Father, You sent Your Son to be the Shepherd and Savior who has reconciled us to You. Send us forth as laborers in Your harvest that the message of Your kingdom may be made known in all the world; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
PRAYER: Lord of the harvest, give to your Church men and women eager to prepare for service in your kingdom. Bless our schools with instructors who encourage and inspire their students to grow in grace and wisdom. Strengthen the resolve of students to complete their training for ministry, and send them out in the power of your Spirit. Amen. (From Christian Worship: A Lutheran Hymnal, 135)
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, you have joined me to other Christians through the gift of your Spirit. Unite us together with a common purpose and mission. Help us to remember in this world of division that there is so much more that draws us together as Christians. Amen.
PRAYER: Jesus Christ, when I feel overwhelmed by the expectations and burdens of life, uphold me by your strength. When I become anxious and worried for myself and others, comfort me by your presence. I do not always know what to ask in prayer or have the words to express my concerns, but I know that you are aware of the greatest needs in my life. Grant me the trust today to live each day knowing that you are at work in my life. Amen.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, you have created me for relationships. I acknowledge that in this world I have too often been hurt and let down by others. Heal these wounds of sadness and mistrust that I may not retreat from community but turn to you for strength. Where I have hurt others give me humility. Form within me the love of Christ that I may not be engrossed in my own needs but aware of the needs of others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
PRAYER: O Lord, teach me to receive each gift from you with gratitude and praise, for I know that you have poured out for me abundant blessings of body and soul. Create in me a generous heart towards those around me. May I be an instrument of your mercy raising a song of praise in all that I do. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
