2:10 *ring*. As the bell rings on Tuesday, several thoughts run through my head-“I’m exhausted-I have so much Thanksgiving shopping to do-Thank goodness I planned ahead and made my copies for after break-Did I mention I’m exhausted?” But a necessary 3-hour nap and several episodes of Big Mouth later, I was able to reflect on the things that I am thankful for this year. Without further ado, I present my Teacher Thanks.
1. Coffee- Without it, I would not be able to wake up at the crack of dawn and make it to school. I would also be a lot more irritable and impatient, so my students probably thank it too.
2. Teachers Pay Teachers- Let’s say hypothetically that I spent my entire weekend at brunch/on my couch instead of lesson planning. In those moments, I’m thankful for Teachers Pay Teachers. Shout out to the many teacher contributors who put together engaging activities in an aesthetically pleasing format for a minimal fee. My Sunday Scaries owe you a big one.
3. Donor’s Choose- Ever have a great idea for your classroom, but lack the funds to make it happen? Enter Donor’s Choose. I’m thankful for the various donors who have contributed to making my classroom a better place and helping my students get the resources they need.
4. My Roommates- Teaching is exhausting-and exhilarating, and frustrating, and rewarding, and challenging, in addition to a thousand other things that haven’t revealed themselves yet. I am thankful for roommates and friends who celebrate my wins, hug me when I cry, and make me laugh hard enough to replace those sad tears with happy ones. Thank you for going on this crazy journey with me.
5. My Students- I am most thankful for my students- the reasons why I teach..Teaching at IPS, I have the opportunity to reach a diverse group of students. My students are amazing- they are scholars, athletes, and leaders. Over the past 3 years, I have gotten to meet families, cheer students on at games, share meals, practice my Spanish, and watch my students grow into responsible adults. My students make me excited to come to work everyday and be Ms.Bhagwat!
