We want to welcome, Ms.Porter, our new 5th grade math/science/social studies teacher, into the Lion Den! Ms.Porter is coming to us from another district where she spent many years teaching 6th grade math! We are excited to watch Ms.Porter shine and help our 5th graders transition onto middle school!

Nuri Rodriguez is a dedicated kindergarten teacher at IPS Christian Park School 82, community leader, and youth advocate whose work is rooted in the values of the community that raised her. Growing up in a family that embraced diversity and service, she developed a strong foundation of empathy and leadership. Inspired by her mother’s career in nursing and her father’s work as a veteran educator, Rodriguez brings a deep commitment to servant leadership and compassion into everything she does.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana State University and is currently pursuing a master’s in educational leadership at Western Governors University. Over the past six years with IPS, she has taught kindergarten and first grade while championing equity, integrity, and student well-being. Beyond the classroom, she mentors families and youth through organizations like Positive Character Girls Inc., Nur-Allah Islamic Center, and Muslim Voices of IPS, and remains committed to ensuring every child feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Principal Anna Simpson said Rodriguez is an exceptional teacher who maintains professional and meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

“She holds students to high standards academically, behaviorally, and socially, while encouraging them to hold themselves accountable in these areas as well,” the principal said. “Nuri displayed her dedication and skill when she jumped in to take over and teach two classrooms of students while her teammate was on leave. She has supported multiple staff members personally and professionally while also maintaining high standards for herself. Nuri is dedicated, respected, loved, and admired by students and staff alike!
