We are deeply saddened to share the recent passing of our dear friend, colleague, and mentor, Dr. Scott Deal. In the worlds of percussion, music technology, and education, Scott was a pioneer and an extraordinary, unstoppable force.
Over his more than 30-year career, Scott became known as a virtuosic percussionist, a trailblazer in synchronous live performance over the internet, and an innovator in technology-assisted musical expression.
We will do our best to honor Scott in ways fitting to his life: by seeking out collaborations that transcend discipline and ideology; by courageously exploring bold and innovative creativity; and by sharing our knowledge with the next generation of talented musicians, artists, and educators.
If you would like to know more about the man who inspired so many, we invite you to experience Scott Deal's legacy through his own words and works in the "Remembering Scott Deal" collection, available in the comments below.
