MY STORY
Ever since I can remember, my relationship with food has been less than optimal. It all started when I was in middle school because of events that were happening at home, and my coping mechanism of choice was food. As time went on, I kept turning to food and gaining weight even though I stayed active through high school and college.
In 2012, I had the incredible experience in the Peace Corps where I lived in Benin, Africa for 27 months. While I was there, my diet consisted of ‘organic’ and ‘whole foods”’ and before I knew it, I started losing weight. I felt healthier, happier and more energetic than I had in years.
In 2014, when I returned home, my eating habits went back to "normal", and in a blink on an eye, I gained all the weight back and some. I felt lethargic, bloated, fatigued, etc. I knew I needed to change, but I wasn't sure where to start.
For Christmas 2016, I was gifted personal training sessions. I told myself at that moment that 2017 was the year that I was going to change my life. Once I started going to the gym and changing my diet, the weight started to come off, and I started noticing other non-scale victories. I was sleeping better, my skin was clear, I didn't have to take thyroid medication anymore, etc. But then I talked to a very close friend of mine who introduced me to the Whole30, and I decided to give it a try, and I completed my first round of Whole30 in October 2017.
The Whole30 changed my life. I found out that I am intolerant to a lot of the foods that I thought were "good" for me, and it completely changed my relationship with food. It really made me think more about what food does for my body and how it affects EVERY single part of my daily life.
Since then I have gotten my health coaching certification and started helping women repair their relationship with food, change habits, understand cravings and teach them how to meal prep and plan.
I am currently living in my own food freedom and continually growing and learning about myself every day. This journey is not a sprint, its a marathon, but I am here to help women feel empowered and become the best versions of themselves!
