Oh, not everyone deals with this at their job? 🫠🥴🙃

Yesterday I ended my 6th year of teaching, and it was the best one yet. I had an amazing group of students. I pushed myself to grow as an educator and was even nominated for teacher of the year. It was difficult, but I’m all the better for it. I set strong boundaries put my oxygen mask on first. I advocated for myself and my colleagues at the statehouse multiple times and helped defeat multiple anti-educator bills. I’m proud of myself, and I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this year great.✌🏼💛

Hello, abandoned IG account! Time to update my feed with what I’ve been up to this year. One of my favorite activities this year has been to have students sort cards into categories as a team. Today, we reviewed Theme vs. Motif vs. Symbol vs. Central Idea by sorting examples into piles. Technology is great, but I always get the best collaborative conversations during activities like these!

Today, my English 12 students summarized one of the first four “Serial” podcast episodes in a jigsaw activity. They collaborated on sifting through information to create a “Cliff’s Notes” poster for each episode, The Who, What, When, Where, and Why. These students are rockstar text detectives! (And just detectives in general🕵🏼)
I love tech, but being able to visualize learning like this is just so effective and satisfying! 😌
