MUCG is a group of performers who are dedicated to artistry and excellence. But this decision didn't stay for long.
The bands at Marian University have performed for many prestigious events on and off campus. The band performs for home football games, parades, pep rallies, campus sporting events, community concerts, and private events. Recently, the Marian University Marching Band has become widely requested as an exhibition band for high school band competitions across the Midwest, performing headline exhibiti
ons at the Bands of America events including the Indianapolis Public Schools Tournament of Bands hosted by Music For All at Lucas Oil Stadium in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Performance opportunities expanded when the Department of Music started the Marian University "Knightro" Winter Guard allowing for a full year of color guard experience. As the only on campus competitive music ensemble the winter guard represented MU throughout the Midwest. In the first season of competition the winter guard was an Independent A Class Finalist at the MidWest Color Guard Circuit Championships. The winter guard moved to the Independent Open Class in 2013 and was awarded the Silver Medal at the MidWest Championship Finals. The guard could also be found performing the in "Christmas Under the Stars" Parade in Brownsburg, IN as well as exhibition performances at select IHSCGA events. After 3 years of continued educational and performance growth and success a new direction was chosen for the MU Music Department which included an end to the color guard program. The color guard program was brought back under new direction for the 2014 program.
