Today I will go to work and look after patients as I always have done….
Today I already know we are understaffed and are on reduced hours, due to the inability to fulfil outstanding nursing positions….
Today I will try to refer patients to other specialities that have “ no capacity “ to take the unwell patient …
Today I will come home exhausted and worried about patients that I have seen, treated and hope they don’t deteriorate….
Tonight I will lay awake worrying about patients I’ve seen and things I may not have done or forgotten….
Today’s strike is NOT about the money…
It’s about patient safety and working conditions !
Unfortunately I’m not “ allowed “ to strike today, but I will still make my voice heard and fully support those colleagues that are ❤️
I’m coming to the end of my nursing career, but we MUST change things for the future ❤️
