What is the difference between light sparring and heavy contact? The one way I distinguish between the two is the type or flavor of techniques I use. When in light sparring blocks are not contested, and neither are strikes.

Meaning if I attack and you block I stop the technique and move on where in heavy sparring I may follow through to knock the opponent off balance or break through the block. In the same way I don't use my blocks to overpower a strike but just to stop or guide the strikes.

Lastly in light sparring if someone hits me with a light technique it is acknowledged and I won't use the fact that I could ignore it and counterstrike against it. In the same way as an attacker I don't hit in a way to stumble the opponent to continue my combination, where in heavy sparring I would.

I hope that brings a bit of guidance in application of these two styles. In addition to in all styles of sparring never through a technique with speed or power in a way that you can't also control the impact. Also be mindful of your partners emotions as to not overwhelm and crush their spirit, nor allow anger to drive your or their techniques. Taking breaks and checking in with your partner is recommended if you are not sparring under direct supervision if you are concerned.

Good morning MBS family. I we have been having a wonderful time with the Stoffels in Florida on our family vacation. Unfortunately, our flight time to get back is later than expected so we will not be having class on Monday, sorry for the late notice, looking forward to seeing everyone after the 4th.

As a reminder we will not be having class until Monday July the 3rd we will be on vacation down in Florida would love and appreciate your prayers.

On Thursday and The first two Saturdays of the week we will have a new protocol to address security concerns with people coming in the building. The doors will not be unlocked, so text or call Master Miller when you arrive and he will send someone to let you in.
Also as a reminder there will be no class on June 26th thru July 2nd. We will have class on the 3rd. God bless and looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Good morning MBS Family I just wanted to let everyone know that Woodruff Place is having their flea market AKA garage sale this weekend which brings people in from all around the city so traffic will be a little tough and so will parking. You might want to come a little early. And lastly I just wanted to give a friendly reminder and shout out to Scott and Shannyn getting married today at 4. So early congrats to them on taking this step.

Good afternoon MBS Family I hope to see you all at class tonight. But I have exciting news about Saturday. Since it is Easter weekend we won't have class at the dojo, but hold your tears, my friends, we have been invited to go perform at Shepherd's Easter Egg Hunt. It is from 11:00 to 1:00 at Christian Park Community Center. Fear not, my friends, this is a very relaxed demonstration where we will be practicing together and inviting others to come to join. Also if you have little ones they will be able to participate in the egg hunt as well. We did it last year and it was a lot of fun. I hope you can all make it. I would love it if the whole school could make it out for the event. The weather forecast said clear skies and a high of 68. It would be a good idea to wear your full uniform and wear your red shirt underneath in case you do get too hot. Spread the news and have a wonderful day God Bless.
