The Students Demand Action club organized a student walk out during school hours to protest gun violence at the state house. Students were given the opportunity to leave school during a planned fire drill.

Senior Finn Cohen commented about his reasoning for walking out.

“I’m walking out because, I want to say something,” Cohen said. “And honestly, it is so terrifying that as a country, we’ve become decentized to gun violence. Something has to change, that’s we’re trying to do.”

AP Government teacher, Andrew Wiggins gave his thoughts on the students actions.

“I think that this is the hallmark of the First Amendment and Constitutional Democracy,” Wiggins said. “And I love the fact that students were interested enough and concerned enough about this issue and brave enough to stand up and take action.”
