You need to have conversations about s*x and s*xuality. They are not the same thing. In addition, have conversations about consent. Have conversations about enthusiastic consent. Have conversations about the fact that consent can be removed at any time. Even in marriage. If your church isn’t talking about these things, you are not preparing people for healthy relationships. You’re setting them up for confusion, shame, and harm. This is coming from a mother, a licensed clinical psychologist, and a believer. We need better. Talk about s*x in church. For real.
