We are excited to announce Noah Pratt has been recognized as one of the three recipients of the Apprentice of the Month Award for September 2026! Pictured with one of our full-time instructors, Aaron Cross, who nominated him for the honor, Noah just began the second semester of the second term of our five term inside apprenticeship program.

Through the first 8 months of 2026, we received 2,630 applications for our apprenticeship program, which forecasts to accepting a record number of 3,945 applications for the year if the trend continues...and we have no reason to believe interest will wane in the coming months and years. This increased interest in our apprenticeship program is the main reason for introducing our new process for accepting applications to our apprenticeship program. One exciting characteristic of the new application (and selection) process is the expansion of the Aptitude Test to comprehensively assess an applicant's full capabilities. Whereas the former Aptitude Test only served to quantify an applicant's abilities at Mathematics and Reading Comprehension, our new Aptitude Test will include sections on Numerical Computation, Reading Comprehension, Mechanical Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, and Paper Folding. While we truly appreciate the sheer number of those individuals interested in being potentially selected for a career with IBEW Local 481 and Central Indiana Chapter NECA, we must also ensure we continue to select the very best candidates vying for a position within our program. And we believe our new process will do just that!

Effective immediately, we are introducing a 30-day pause on accepting further applications while we transition to our new procedure for selecting the very best candidates for our program when applications resume on Thursday, October 1, 2026.

We are pleased to share our Training Director Andre Grocox participated in a panel discussion after our program was selected as a finalist for the Program Spotlight Awards given at the electrical training ALLIANCE’s annual NTI event. Our program was selected as a finalist in recognition of the recent expansion of our partnership with our only approved pre-apprenticeship program partner, the Indiana Plan. We are honored to have been included amongst the many wonderful programs also represented at this year’s event.

We are so excited to celebrate two of our full time instructors, Sam Kauffman and Wayne Stevens, on their recent graduation from the Electrical Training Alliance’s National Training Institute (NTI) instructor training program. These two have spent the past four years enhancing their abilities to ensure our apprentices remain the best trained individuals in the country. Our program continues to serve as a preeminent standard of what an apprenticeship program should be due to the efforts of our entire staff, many of which joined them here in Ann Arbor, Michigan this past week.

REMINDER: As apprenticeship classes are scheduled to begin on Monday, August 3rd, all apprentices need to be reminded that semester fees are required to be paid one week prior to the first day of class. For those apprentices who will be attending class on Monday, August 3rd, your semester fees must be paid by the end of the day on Monday, July 27th. Per the apprenticeship handbook, it is important to note that failure to pay your semester fees one week prior to your first day of class will result in being pulled from your scheduled classes for the upcoming semester.
