🌟 A legacy of care: Kathy Lapkovitch 🌟 After 23 years in education, Kathy Lapkovitch is retiring from a distinguished teaching career devoted to the students and families of Perry Township Schools. A graduate of Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education (Grades 1–6) and a Kindergarten endorsement, Kathy spent 14 years teaching Kindergarten and also taught 3rd grade for 9 years at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
Throughout her career, she served as a mentor teacher for several years at Abraham Lincoln Elementary and was honored as Teacher of the Year for the 2021–2022 school year. She also stepped into the role of master teacher during a maternity leave, demonstrating her leadership and dedication to supporting fellow educators.
Education and community have always been central to her life, as all three of her children proudly graduated from Perry Township Schools. Her impact on students, colleagues, and families will continue to be felt for years to come, and she retires with gratitude, pride, and a legacy of care and excellence in teaching.

Who knew civics could taste so good? 🍎 After our unit on the founding of our nation, first grade students were chosen as class representatives and they just met for a working lunch to plan Field Day and vote on activities! It was wonderful to see their leadership, teamwork and thoughtful voting in action.

Kristy Osborn has dedicated 33 years to education at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, a place that has truly been her second home since completing her student teaching there. Throughout her remarkable career, she has inspired generations of students while teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, as well as music, art, and serving as the school’s Media Specialist.
A graduate of Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Kristy later earned her Master’s degree in Library Science from Indiana University. Her passion for learning, creativity, and literacy has left a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues over the years.
Kristy is also fondly remembered for the more than 300 stuffed Tiggers that filled her classroom, creating a warm, fun, and welcoming environment for students. Her love for teaching, creativity, and connection with children made her classroom a place where students felt encouraged, inspired, and valued every day.
