🧐 So what exactly is a “Certified Trauma-Informed Coach?”
I’d love to share 😏
In the health & wellness industry, there are tons of coaches, specializing in topics from exercise to dieting to mental health, and everything in between. Each type of Coach most likely focuses on a certain niche of people as well. Life coaching has been around for a while & has been getting increasingly popular as individuals are awakening to the ability to self-heal from their life’s traumas and wounds in a variety of ways with support & guidance.
Here’s the thing with the coaching industry though— there isn’t exactly a universal certification yet. It’s not technically “regulated”. Not all coaches are certified, and not all certified coaches receive the same quality or quantity of education. Don’t get me wrong, an uncertified coach still has the potential to make a huge impact. But when seeking out a coach, it is important to consider their education and credentials based upon what you are seeking.
For me, it was very important to have extensive and thorough training when it comes to supporting other humans in their very delicate experiences, and in order to make the biggest impact I can as a coach. So I invested in the best (in my opinion).
I had the absolute privilege of being certified by Samantha Skelly with Pause (formerly known as Hungry for Happiness). I invested in this specific program because of the world class experience they provided and because of the depth in which I was taught to heal & mend my own emotional wounds, stories, behavior patterns, etc before guiding others. The Pause Cert Program allowed me to dedicate a year of my life to learning the qualities & principles to embody and the tools to teach others. (And also because my intuition was like “this is crazy, but you need this!! So I listened 🤷🏻♀️) It was life changing and I would absolutely recommend it.
As a part of the Pause program, I was offered an extra curriculum to become “Trauma-Informed,” which was led by a trauma therapist & expert, Marti Stany. It was very important for me to become a trauma-informed coach in order to fully understand my own trauma history and it’s impacts, as well as to hold my clients with a possible trauma history with the most love, compassion, support, and actively avoid retraumatization in our sessions. I will share more about being trauma-informed on an upcoming post 🤓
More about my specific niche as a Life & Energy Coach coming soon as well. ⚡️
