The Petrology class, led by Dr. Stuart Kenderes, enjoyed a field trip to the St Francois Mountains in southeast Missouri last weekend. They examined excellent rocks in their natural habitat and avoided the nasty weather. Perfect!

There's a new Dr. in the house! Congratulations to Hem Sharma who successfully defended his PhD dissertation. The title is THE CARBON BUDGET OF AGROECOSYSTEMS IN RELATION TO TILLAGE AND NITROGEN FERTILIZER MANAGEMENT. His advisor is Pierre-Andre Jacinthe.

And after practicing on campus, our students gave oral and poster presentations at GSA this year and did an awesome job! Way to go Grace, Martin, Lior, Hong, Carissa, Mohammed, and Max! I might add that Dr. Nyarko is mentoring an amazing group of students studying geoscience education.
