Yesterday was National Bee Day and the kindergarten classroom was buzzing with excitement! Thank you to Phil Criswell for leading kindergarten through a discovery class about Bee Keeping.💛

HPA recently got to send 4 of our amazing teachers to a multilingual conference hosted by the Wabash Education Center! It was a day full of learning and collaboration for our teachers 💛

Laura Cummings - Winner of the Outstanding Educator's Award 🏫 ✨

Please join us in congratulating Laura Cummings on receiving this year's Outstanding Educator's Award from The Mind Trust !

Serving HCS for over a decade, Laura has led curriculum development, coached teachers, and strengthened instructional quality. Laura currently serves as a Science Department Chair, teaches AP and Honor Chemistry, as well as Dual Credit ACP Biology. Her leadership in Science education has set the standard for HCS, and there are many students pursuing careers in STEM fields - medicine, engineering, and research - as a result of Mrs. Cummings's preparation, guidance, and inspiration.

It is a gift to have such a skilled educator working for us at HCS. Thank you for all that you do, seen and unseen, for our scholars and our network.

A Full Circle Moment - HCS Alumnus Giving Back ❤️

If you've walked around Herron High School campus lately, you might've noticed a brand new mural painted over the space where the old mural used to be. Herron alumnus Tom Day ( Tom Day: Art & Illustration ) painted the original mural back in 2013 as a part of his Eagle Scout project.

Since then, Tom has been working with his wife, Erin Ashcraft Day ( Erin Ashcraft Artistry ), on murals across the US. It was only right that Tom take the lead on the next mural that will usher us into the next 20 years of HCS. With the help of Erin, they were able to pull together all of what makes Herron High School so special.

This mural was made possible by a generous gift from the Lott-Manier Family in memory of David Lott. David was a founding parent of Herron High School who spent a lot of time volunteering in the early days of HHS.

Slushie Party🍧✨

The 4th grade cooled off with a slushie party after a long week of Ilearn testing. 💛
