Machining Technology (MT) is designed to provide each student with the latest technological skills needed for entry in the metalworking occupations. Students have the opportunity to operate state-of-the-art equipment, such as the Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machine They also gain experience with the hands-on operation of standard machine tools used in the industry
such as: drill presses, met

al saws, lathes, milling machines & surface grinders. Related theory acquaints students with metal cutting applications, material properties, layout work, and construction & assembly of machinery. The application of mathematics and
blueprint reading is also emphasized throughout the course as an integral part of all completed projects and competencies. The Indiana County Technology Center’s (ICTC) MT program is a fully accredited NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) training and certification site. Students will have the opportunity to achieve NIMS Level 1 machining credentials as part of the course
of study for the MT program. Tooling U, a company of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), is the leading developer of online training for manufacturing companies & educational institutions. The ICTC’s MT program was selected as one of twelve nationally recognized Platinum Education Centers based on the adoption of Tooling U’s online training program, & strong utilization in a blended learning format, & ongoing successful referrals in the education community. The partnerships between Tooling U & ICTC’s MT program is based on a blended-learning solution, which combines online training with hands-on instruction & lab work. Tooling U delivers a portion of the knowledge online while the ICTC MT program delivers the needed skills through hands-on learning. If students have patience and are willing to tolerate nothing less than perfection, a career in Machining Technology may be worth a look. The students may attain an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) ten hour training course in “General Industry”. Career Opportunities:

We did it again! Congratulations to Cole Adamson on earning his Level One Certificate of Merit from the National Institute of Metalworking Skills!

Cole is the first junior this year to complete all 7 Level One NIMS certificates.

Cole is an Engineer and a Machining & Design student here at ICTC and is currently gaining hands-on experience through our Co-Op program at ACME Machining & Welding in Punxsutawney. His hard work and determination have set him on the path to success!

The Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC) welcomed representatives from the Utah State University (https://www.usu.edu/) to explore the intricacies of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) field. Discussions focused on Cooperative Education and the successful partnership between ICTC and Komatsu. The University of Utah aims to gather insights to replicate the Engineering, Machining, and Design program and its collaboration with Komatsu in Homer City, PA. With Komatsu operating another facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, the university hopes to implement a similar initiative to help address workforce needs, mirroring the success achieved at ICTC.

Congratulations to Zoe Brandon!

Zoe has been accepted into the Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown for the Fall 2025 semester! A senior at Indiana Area School and a student in the Engineering, Machining, and Design program at the Indiana County Technology Center (ICTC), Zoe has achieved incredible success.

At ICTC, she has earned five industry-recognized certifications from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and her OSHA 10 General Industry certification in manufacturing.

The faculty and staff at ICTC are so proud of Zoe and wish her all the best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in engineering!

🔧 Cooperative Education: Bridging the Gap Between Classroom & Career! 📚

At the ICTC, Cooperative Education (Co-Op) offers students the incredible opportunity to gain real-world experience while still in school. Through Co-Op, students apply the skills they've learned in the classroom directly to the workplace, preparing them for successful careers after graduation.
