Alpha Kappa Delta: Sociology Honor Society Membership is open to undergraduate and graduate Sociology majors who meet certain academic requirements.

AKD seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. This organization shall be a non-secret, democratic, international society of scholars dedicated to the idea of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diakonesein or “To investigate humanit

y for the purpose of service.” It shall also be the purpose of this society to promote an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

This Friday, Mosaic club and AKD will be hosting Stand Against Racism in the Oak Grove. We will gather to raise awareness of racism and race related issues. In Sprouls Hall: McVitty Aud. at 4pm the same day, Jean Whitehorse (a Navajo Activist) will be discussing her role and presence in Native American Movements. Come and hear her speak! It will be enlightening!!!

Tomorrow - Thursday - AKD along with STD and the Fashion Association will be hosting the "Women in Media" panel at the S*x and Gender Symposium. There will be a screening of MissRepresentation and a panel including Dr. Melissa Swauger and Nancy Al-Doghmi.
