Quentin Davis did his internship for hospitality management at the Denali Bluffs Hotel in Denali National Park, Alaska, this past summer as a guest service agent.

For the hospitality management program at IUP, students have to complete an internship in order to graduate, either from a location already affiliated with IUP or a location of the student’s choosing. As a guest service agent, Quentin learned how to work with the various different branches within a hotel operation and not only gained experience with reservations, but also made connections and friendships with people from all over the United States.

“Having internship experience is very important to have, especially when you finally graduate. Employers look for experience, and not only do you gain experience in your job field, but you also meet new people and create long-lasting connections and friendships, which makes the experience all the more worth it!”

POST CARD PROJECT
Hello alumni and friends. I have begun to gather post cards which depict a hospitality theme – the following are examples: hotels (lodging, resorts), restaurants (food and beverage depicting restaurant Coca-Cola or Pepsi or other soft drink signs), tourism sites, travel/historic sites, and event-focused post cards. Post cards have documented historical and contemporary hospitality. If you would happen to have such post cards or are working at a location having a post card and would like to donate them to this ongoing project - I would be most appreciative. We plan to use the post cards to reinforce concepts and create themes when teaching our courses. You can imagine the numerous themes using this pictorial history. To reinforce the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" - post card pictures are powerful visuals.

Tuesday, October 5 Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism and Event Management Annual Career and Internship Fair - on campus - visit and hire for internships and career positions.
