Introducing !

We’re excited to introduce a new series highlighting stories and photographs connected to Dr. Charles D. Cashdollar’s The IUP Story, as we rediscover the people, places, and traditions that have shaped IUP.

So, let’s start at the beginning—or perhaps the prequel...

Long before Indiana University of Pennsylvania became the university we know today, local leaders were working to bring a normal school to Indiana.

An early attempt opened in 1858 but closed during the Civil War. After the war, the idea returned—and returned again—thanks to persistent local educators, business leaders, and community members.

That early school was known as the Indiana Seminary and Normal School. It closed in 1861 shortly after the outbreak of the war.

Be sure to follow us and stay tuned for more stories from IUP’s past!

The Office of Alumni and Friends called on local alumni and friends to join faculty, staff, and administrators in welcoming our newest Hawks to IUP!

The office teamed up with University College (), who rolled out the red carpet for the Class of 2030! 🎉

Any advice for these newbies?

💍 Talons Up for the newlyweds! 🖤❤️

Kaylee (Wenderoth) Fleming ’22 and Kobe Fleming tied the knot on June 27, and a crew of IUP alumni was there to celebrate with them—and, of course, they brought their Crimson Hawk spirit along! 🦅

We love seeing our alumni come together, wherever life takes them. And what better way to celebrate than with a Talons Up?

Congratulations, Kaylee and Kobe!❤️🥂

These smiling faces were part of the 1,800 new freshman who began their adventure at IUP just three short years ago. Next week, they start their senior year making some of their last memories as an IUP student.

Time sure does go fast! Wishing our senior class the best year and the best of luck as they step out into the next phases of life. You've come a long way already and we know you are destined for great things!

Circa 1971. A group of lovely IUP students gathered for a photo at the Carriage House, a longtime off-campus student apartment community near IUP. It was close enough that students could walk to campus in less than 10 minutes. Thank you to Nancy (Dunlap) Collette ’72 for sharing this photo with us.
