It's time for Class Cab!

10/08/2026

The Homecoming countdown has officially started! We’re throwing it back to this incredible float from 2004 that captured the spirit of IUP’s history. From our changing names over the decades to an impressive replica of Sutton Hall, this float truly celebrated our history. Each name change represents growth and expansion, and Sutton Hall represents our long history.

Make sure to catch the Homecoming Parade this year at 10 AM on Philadelphia Street--Saturday, October 10, 2026!

IUP legacy runs deep! ❤️

When early fall rolls around, we love seeing our alumni return to campus and bring their children to the place they once called home—with hopes that they, too, will choose IUP! And why wouldn’t they? When you hear our alumni share stories about their time at IUP and where their IUP education has taken them in their careers, it’s no wonder they want the same experience for their children!

Pictured here are Denise (Johnson) Bauer ’00 and her son, Nick Bauer. Denise remembers her time at IUP fondly, including a special roommate and Alpha Sigma Tau sister, Cara (Staul) Phillips, whom she still keeps in touch with today!

Hello from IUP, Cara! ❤️

A NIGHT FOR HISTORY. A LEGACY THAT LIVES ON.

Friday night, the IUP Men’s Hockey family came together to honor a true legend.

🏒🏆 Sam Kelly, the Father of IUP Hockey, became the FIRST inductee into the IUP Hockey Hall of Fame.

For 18 years, Sam built, coached and shaped IUP Hockey, leaving a legacy that lives on through the players, alumni and Crimson Hawks who continue to wear the jersey.

The night was made even more special by a heartfelt video from Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a friend of Sam’s, honoring his life and lasting impact.

Then the Crimson Hawks took the ice and finished the night in style:

IUP 8 — Villanova 1.

Way to go, Hawks!

🎥 Watch Governor Shapiro’s special message honoring Sam on the IUP Men’s Hockey page.

🐜🦋 Ready, set, collect!

Check out this enthusiastic group of students in Dr. Ellen Yerger’s BIOL 520 – Entomology: Principles and Practice class! Armed with buckets and nets, they’re ready to head outdoors and put their entomology skills into practice.

The course introduces students to the biology of insects, including their identification and classification. Through outdoor laboratory activities, students collect live insects from a variety of habitats, observe their behaviors, and explore the important ecological roles insects play in our environment.

It’s hands-on learning at its best—and these students look more than ready to get started!
