Put your hands together for Dr. Joseph Baunoch, who has been a professor at IUP for 17 years!

He has more education than what could be listed in this graphic, so he has requested this addition: "Along with my MM, I also completed masters studies at the Manhattan School of Music. I also apprenticed at Dicapo Opera Theater in NYC, and my time doing Educational Outreach Opera performances and Lectures for the Metropolitan Opera was key to my development as a teacher. It really added to my passion for showing others how great opera is and that they could do it too."

With this post, we have introduced our 3 main faculty members for the voice department! Next, we will be re-introducing two of our graduate assistants! Stay tuned for those posts!

Everyone, please welcome Dr. Kelly Lynch to IUP! She is here this semester to work with Dr. Lo's students as he is away. She has been with us for just a few weeks. She is a phenomenal teacher and performer, and we are so so SO lucky to work with her!

⭐️ Alumni Spotlight ⭐️

Please say hello to Ben Strong! Ben is a bass-baritone from Indiana, PA. He earned a BFA from IUP in 2020. He is currently a member of the Lindemann Young Artists at The Metropolitan Opera. Over the summer, he performed as Dieu le Fils in “Mariken de Nimègue” at the Fisher Center, Allazim in “Zaide” at The Lincoln Center, and as Harašta in “The Cunning Little Vixen” at the Des Moines Metro Opera.

From November 24 to December 13 of this year, Ben will be performing in “Andrea Chénier” at the Metropolitan Opera and in “Messiah” with The New Choral Society of NY. He made his Met debut yesterday!

A fun fact about Ben is that while at IUP, he took enough woodworking classes and ceramics classes to have the option to get an art minor.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CASTS OF THE OPERA!!! This was such a successful show! Thank you to everyone who attended our performances. We are all deeply grateful for our audiences!

Thank you to our wonderful director, Dr. Lo, and our costume designer, Nancy Hutchinson! We couldn't have had this much success without your help and expertise!
