Independence Council PTA is here to help!

We provide support and assistance to the individual school PTAs and coordinate efforts between local units. Council helps develop leadership, and support and encourages State and National PTA programs and projects. Council brings people and schools together for a stronger voice for our children. Together we are stronger! Together everyone achieves more!! The Purpose of PTA

• To promote the welfar

e of children and youth in home, school, places of worship, and throughout the community;
• To raise the standards of home life;
• To advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;
• To promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth;
• To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and
• To advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding

A staunch advocate for children's literacy, her reach was far and wide. 💛💙📖

Today, we’re remembering Dolly Parton—an extraordinary artist, but also a tireless champion for children, literacy and education.

Yes, Dolly gave us unforgettable music. But her impact reaches far beyond the stage. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped put more than 325 million books into the hands of children around the world, inspiring a love of reading and helping families build a foundation for learning.

Her music may be her legacy, but so are the millions of children who grew up with a book in their hands because of her.

Dolly’s belief in the power of children, books and education will continue to inspire generations to come.

ICPTA was excited to gift Back-to-School Bags to the nurses at our ISD schools, filled with items to help students who may need a little extra support throughout the school day.

Socks, underwear, tissues, and period products were donated through an Independence Chamber of Commerce event where ICPTA was the featured nonprofit.

Wilcox Karate held a clothing drive and collected gently used pants and tops.

Blackburn Orthodontics donated lip balms.

ICPTA also added socks, underwear, period products and fabric spray.

Thank you to the Ennovation Center for storing the items!

When you support your school’s PTA by becoming a member, you’re also supporting ICPTA—and helping us do things like this for our students and staff across the district. 🍎

You can also help our ISD Nurses by donating frequently needed items to your child's elementary, middle or high school.

Bring items anytime including back to school nights, conference nights or drop off in the office. Thank you for your support of our ISD nurses.

Today, PTA helped the Independence School District welcome 160 new teachers to our district! We shared how PTA advocates for students, supports staff and builds community in our schools.

We surprised our newest teachers with Welcome Bags packed with coupons from local businesses and a pen and a notebook pen clip from ICPTA.

We are grateful to our community partners who donated coupons to make these bags possible. You can thank them too! Follow their page, visit them for yummy food and drinks, leave them a review and thank them for supporting PTA.

Coupons included:
Summit Pizza - free cheese pizza

Coffee Elsewhere - free drink

Smoothie King - free smoothie

Whataburger - a coupon flyer packed with 8 BOGO coupons & 8 free item coupons

Howdy Homemade KC TNC Community- 50 bags included coupons for free ice cream!
