Perhaps you have heard the management phrase "tone at the top"? Well, our ICPTA President Judy Young embodies our advocacy mission wholeheartedly and sets the tone with actions like this: Her article about the letter grade system was shared by the Washington Post. What an honor to have her serve our organization! Check out her article below.

The plan will not improve student outcomes.

📣 Advocacy looks like this!

Last Thursday, October 1, PTA had the opportunity to host a site visit with Dr. Murillo, the new Superintendent of the Independence School District.

A site visit is one of the many ways PTA can advocate for kids. It gives us an opportunity to build relationships with decisionmakers, have meaningful conversations about our schools, and make sure the voices of families and students are part of the conversation.

We invited Dr. Murillo to speak with our PTA community and then opened the floor for a Q&A panel, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions directly and hear from our new district leader.

Advocacy doesn't always mean standing behind a podium or asking for a change. Sometimes it means opening the door, starting a conversation, listening, asking questions, and building a relationship with someone who helps shape the future of our schools.

And this is just ONE way PTA advocates for kids. ❤️

Thank you to Dr. Murillo for spending time with our PTA community, and thank you to everyone who came, participated, and helped make this conversation possible!

❤️🤍

🎨✨ WHAT A NIGHT FOR CREATIVITY! ✨🎨

We are still smiling over the amazing turnout at our Reflections Student Workshop! It was so much fun watching Independence School District students bring their creativity, ideas, and unique perspectives to life through art. ❤️

A HUGE ICPTA shout-out to our Reflections Chair, Chelsea Pierce for making this workshop happen and to her partner in crime, Angie Judy, for jumping right in and helping make the evening such a success! 👏🎨

These two ladies are not only amazing ICPTA volunteers, but also dedicated Bryant Elementary PTA Board members, and we are so lucky to have their creativity, energy, and passion for our students!

Thank you to every student and family who came out, created with us, and made the night so special. We can't wait to see where all that creativity takes you! 🌟

This is what PTA is all about — creating opportunities for kids to discover their talents, share their voices, and shine. ❤️
