Panthers Nation🐾 is being represented by Central High Schools Varsity Girls Swimming.

Central Swimming has their first OSAA Acadmic All Star champions with a team GPA of 4.0. The best academic standing of any team in girls swimming within the state.

I am beyond proud of the ladies work, sacrifices and resilience that has gone into this last 1-2 years. It’s truly amazing that when you are apart of developing a culture of support and having fun, that excellence will just be a byproduct of the little things we take pride in everyday. In interscholastic athletics we put a high regard for academics over athletics, because we recognize that academics is what will carry you into becoming an education citizen and serve well in the continuum of the athletes life and their family. But athletics is just as important as it truly gives tools that help teach, motivate and inspire people to become better and do things as a team to accomplish something that lasts forever. What will your legacy be? The time is now to decide.

*** Athlete Spotlight***🌊🏊🏼🐾
The Freshman Gentry Hagedorn had quite the season. This Lady Panther🐾 is your 2022 OSAA 5A-3 Mid Willamette Conference 2x Champion in the 100 & 200 Freestyle events. This marked the second & third time Central has had a District Champion since being in 5A (since 2014) The first was marked by her sister Taylor earlier in the day of the same meet.

These performances at districts help set new school record performances while assisting in helping her team finish 2nd in the 5A-3 MWC in both the 200 & 400 freestyle relays. This led her to earn recognition as the OSAA Athlete of the week presented by for Feb. 7th-13th.

She competed in the OSAA 5A State Championships last weekend and placed 2nd in the 100 Freestyle & 3rd in the 200 Freestyle while re-breaking her school records set from the week prior. Gentry secured 9 points for her team and was instrumental in helping her team place 5th overall (out of 20 teams) for Central Girls Swimming.

Gentry finished the season helping set high standards for the future of Centrals Swimming program & is currently a school record holder in the 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Fly, 100 Back, 200 Freestyle Relay & 400 Freestyle Relay for a total of 6 records (4 individual and 2 relays).

Well done G! We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see your success and development in and out of the pool for the next 3 years! 🐾

***Athlete Spotlight & Team Record Alert***🌊🐾
Panthers! It time to meet your OSAA 5A-3 District Champion in the girls 200 IM Taylor Hagedorn. Taylor had some fantastic swims and success this past weekend. She started the meet off by being the first district champion for the panthers team ever on the girls team since they moved to 5A.
Also breaking her own previous school record from earlier this season with a final time of 2:15.67. This landed her a spot at OSAA 5A state championships in Beaverton on Feb. 18th (this Friday) where she is ranked second.

She also competed in the 500 Free earning a 6th place finish and a spot at state, ranked within the top 6 going in. She was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay that earned 2nd place in the district, earning a spot at state as well. While also breaking two more school records set from 2009.

Taylor leads by example and is there when her teammates need her the most. Well done T, we can’t wait to cheer you on this coming weekend 🐾

The panthers fought hard and well on Saturday. These last couple of years have been very challenging with COVID brought to light while shutting down opportunities for many of them last year. But I can’t be more proud of their resilience in how they persevered! It was all worth it in the end!

The Girls team placed 5th overall with 182 points just behind Corvallis with 245

The boys placed 7th overall with 22 points just behind Dallas with 61 points

12-7-21 The panthers swimming program has become a mighty force to reckon with since Head Coach Jesse Genualdi took over the program in 2018. They continue to rise with new talent brought to central and place well in the 5A MWC conference with only 7 girls and 4 boys to make up a team of 11 in the 2...

We are devastated and heartbroken to learn of the passing of Van Holstad. He was a great teacher and coach that truly made his impact on the lives of everyone he came in contact with. There is a lot that we have learned from him and how he lived his life and now it’s our job to continue on his legacy by living in a way that uplifts others and show grace and kindness to others while making an impact on others lives like has done ours. Panther Nation has lost a truly great soul this week. Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers. Contributions to the family via go fund me can be found below & in our bio.
