Attached is a peek at what is to come next week and in the near future at Glendale! Our "Upcoming Info" section has been updated with important dates you will need to know for August and September.

It is finally time for the first day of school this MONDAY AUGUST 24 (doors open at 8:40am with the tardy bell ringing at 8:50am). We begin dismissing car riders and walkers at 4:25pm and have a goal of our bus riders to be leaving our parking lot by 4:45pm, but during the first week of school this can be delayed as we are learning these procedures and our drivers are learning the bus routes.

Reminder that this coming week and next, there IS school on Monday (Aug 24th and Aug 31st). School year calendars can be found on the ISD website.

Please take note of our arrival/dismissal procedure map. On the first day, we will allow families to walk students to class. Please avoid parking anywhere that will block the flow of our car rider line. This means we will have families parking in the big grassy lot out front, and this is okay for the first day. We will resume normal drop-off procedures beginning Tuesday August 25th.

Here is a note to our walkers from our school crossing guard:
To all parents dropping their students off at the Cogan crosswalk please drop them off on Reynolds street and have them walk down to the crosswalk. Dropping students off on Cogan is just too dangerous. Keeping students and families safe is my number one priority! See you Monday morning!

Our peek at the week includes next week's lunch menu with some new cold lunch options this school year. You will notice a pizza munchable (build your own pizza using pizza crust, shredded Cheese, pepperoni and sauce) and chips and bean dip munchable (Sun chips and Hummus).

Glendale staff continued practicing our 26-27 theme of "Together, we can," with one of our favorite annual traditions. Our all-staff luncheon at Olive Garden after convocation is so fun! We can't wait to see you tonight!!

Happy Friday Glendale Families! This is Principal Tierney Solis, excited to be sharing with you our first weekly newsletter of the year. You can expect to receive Glendale's Peek at the Week every Friday with information for the upcoming week. Here is where you will find information about important upcoming dates/events, our weekly lunch menu, and any digital flyers we may have to share with you. If you have questions about anything you see, you can always call the school at 816-521-5510, email at [email protected], or comment directly on the post.

Our first newsletter contains information about important August dates, including Meet the Teacher Night (August 20th 5-7pm) and the first day of school (August 24th 8:50am-4:35pm).

You will also see information about how to join Glendale's PTA ($10). PTA is an amazing organization that provides many fun opportunities for our students such as field trips, school dances, family picnics, and seasonal parties. Each membership allows our PTA to be able to continue all of the wonderful things they do for our students. If you are interested in hearing what PTA is planning next, giving your opinion on what you would like to see our PTA do, or help in any capacity-no matter how small- our meetings are open to anyone. Plan to join us in the Glendale Library on the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm.

Finally, we are excited to tell you about a new club our school will be offering this year. Girls on the Run is an amazing running club for 3rd-5th grade girls focused on staying active and building self-confidence. Check the attached flyer for more information on how to join.

Today is the final day to completely register your student to receive a bus pass before the first day of school! Call, email, or visit the office for support with completing this process.

If you have not already, please plan to fill out the free/reduced lunch application for this school year. Our goal is for 100% of families to fill out the application, whether you qualify for free/reduced or not!
