Students and staff celebrating a historic achievement today as Bridger has been recognized as an AVID National Demonstration School, the highest honor awarded by AVID. Bridger is one of just 14 schools nationwide to receive this distinction and was selected through a highly competitive, rigorous validation process.
This designation highlights Bridger Middle School’s implementation of the AVID College and Career Readiness System and reflects a campus-wide commitment to high expectations, student achievement, and equitable access to rigorous learning opportunities.
“This recognition is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of our staff,” said Principal Jeff Williams. “Their commitment to implementing AVID schoolwide with fidelity has created a culture where all students are empowered to succeed. I couldn’t be more proud of what our team has accomplished together.”
Bridger was also selected to participate in AVID’s inaugural Elementary Demonstration School validation process, with only 25 schools nationwide chosen for the pilot year. Of those, just 14 earned Demonstration status. Schools were evaluated through an extensive process that included data analysis, on-site observations, campus visits, and evidence of sustained, high-level AVID implementation.
With this recognition, Bridger becomes AVID’s first, and currently only, Elementary Demonstration School in Missouri and within the Midwest, marking a significant milestone not only for the school but for the entire district.
This honor builds on a series of recent accolades for Bridger Middle School. Earlier this year, the school was named an AVID Showcase School and was also recognized as one of 45 schools nationwide as an AVID School of Excellence in Implementation.
Since launching AVID in 2018, Bridger has demonstrated a sustained commitment to fostering a college- and career-ready culture for all students. The National Demonstration School designation affirms the strength of that commitment, the consistent use of best instructional practices by staff, and a supportive culture where all students can succeed.
As part of this recognition, Bridger will serve as a model site for the next three years, welcoming educators from across the region to observe and learn from its exemplary practices. This milestone stands as a testament to the perseverance, collaboration, and shared vision of the entire Bridger community.
